Battery Storage Systems - what are they?
A battery storage unit will store any excess electricity generated from your panels, but is not required until the battery is full. It will then supply any power required throughout the day or night when the consumption exceeds the generation until it is empty.
Your consumption is continually changing throughout the day as various devices switch on and off either automatically or manually. The generation of the PV will also fluctuate continually throughout the day as different levels of sunlight reach the panels. So even a small 5kwh battery is very useful to bridge the gap between generation and consumption and allows you to use mainly your own power all the time.

What size battery should I get?
The larger the battery the more it can store. However, there is no point in having a capacity so large that it is never fully charged or discharged. All our battery systems are scalable meaning you can add additional 5 kwh battery module at any time in the future, we generally recommend that domestic customers start with between 5 and 15 kwh systems, but this can be increased up to 30 kwh if required.Monitoring of the system allows us (and you) to see how effective your battery system is and whether it would be good to increase it.
